Sister Vera and Teen Joined this years TDOR, a solemn occasion where we gathered to reflect on those no longer with us. Reading of the names added to that growing list of those taken from us. Began with drumming and cedar brushing. Reading of History and poetry calling us to action. Then we all fell silent when that stack of paper revealed itself, volunteers donned their courage and stepped forward taking a portion of that list. It blows me away that there was over 300 names on that list: Artists, Beauticians, Sex- workers and Activists and some weren't even named... a blank space where a name should be. We mourned and wept for them. It makes you hope that next year that list would be shorter.
